Serengeti Park Hodenhagen Lantern Festival 2025 — A Journey Around the World of Natural Wonders
From November 8, 2025 to March 1, 2026, visitors are invited to embark on an immersive light journey across continents — traveling from African savannas and tropical oceans to Nordic snowlands and dreamy fantasy realms — where wildlife, landscapes, and culture merge through large-scale handcrafted lantern artistry.
Blending traditional Chinese intangible cultural heritage lantern craftsmanship with Germany’s natural safari environment, the festival creates a unique cross-cultural night experience that combines nature exploration, art, and family entertainment.

Centered on the storyline of “traveling around the world through nature,” the festival is divided into seven themed zones:
-
Natural Europe
-
Asian Natural Mysteries
-
White Nordic Lands
-
South American Jungles
-
African Kingdoms
-
Fabulous Tropical Seas
-
A World of Dreams
Each zone presents distinctive ecosystems and iconic wildlife through vivid lantern installations. From glaciers and rainforests to oceans and grasslands, the displays showcase the planet’s diverse habitats and celebrate the beauty of life on Earth.
The lantern sets are thoughtfully integrated into the park’s real safari landscape, allowing illuminated giraffes, lions, zebras, and rhinos to echo the presence of live animals nearby, creating a magical yet natural immersive experience.
Seasonal Alignment:
Set during the winter holiday season, the glowing lanterns transform the safari park into a warm and colorful night destination. As guests stroll through illuminated trails surrounded by nature, the festival offers a cozy atmosphere ideal for families, holiday outings, and evening adventures.
The combination of light, wildlife, and winter festivities turns the park into one of Germany’s most distinctive seasonal attractions.
